Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine of Midwestern University

I grew up in a small town on the Snake River Canyon in Idaho called Twin Falls.  I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado in Boulder and enjoyed Colorado so much that I stayed and worked in Denver for about 2 years following graduation. Eventually I moved back to my home state and obtained a Master’s degree from Boise State University while working in a hospital laboratory to pay for school. Once I decided that medicine the only career for me, I continued on to Phoenix, Arizona to attend medical school at Midwestern University-AZCOM.

My interview at Texas A&M-Christus Spohn EM residency was one of my first and I felt right away that this would be a fantastic place to complete my residency. Although I tried to keep an open mind for the rest of my interviews, I kept telling friends and family that I had a great feeling about this program and a sense that it was going to be my residency program. I was thrilled on Match Day when I found out that was the case!

The program has so many strengths but number one for me is that it felt immediately like being part of a family when I started here. Everyone is very welcoming and social and my fiancé, Doug, and I both had an instant group of friends.  We also love living here in Corpus Christi because there is so much to do! We are planning on trying everything including surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and kite boarding.  Some of our favorite activities are fishing and spending the day at the beach with our dogs.

I am grateful every day that I ended up here and I truly couldn’t ask for a better place to train for my career in emergency medicine!
