Dr. Mark Huber

Mark Huber, M.D.

University of Texas School of Medicine at San Antonio

If you’re reading this you are most likely a 4th year medical student who has an interview here soon, and you’re trying to get a feel for the residency.  Well… don’t panic, be yourself, and come to the residency dinner if you can.  You’ll love it here, and you’ll get to know us better than the paragraphs below our pictures.

I grew up on the east coast mostly in Virginia Beach, then headed to central Texas for high school and college.  After too much partying at UT Austin, I somehow got a degree and decided it was a good idea to become a doctor.  I went to medical school in San Antonio, and I worked as a scribe in area emergency rooms while I was there. I fell in love with the Emergency Room.  Taking charge of the chaos.  Hopefully that’s what you love about it, too.

Several of the doctors I worked for were graduates of our residency program.  I thought they were incredibly well trained, and they were also a blast to work with.  I enjoyed them so much that I made doing an away rotation down in Corpus Christi my top priority.  Within two shifts of being here, I knew it was the place for me.  It’s the perfect mix of “work hard, play hard.”  One day, you’re seeing the sickest of the sick in the ER, doing all the procedures and critical care management.  The next day, you’re hanging out on the beach relaxing with your co-residents who have become your extended family.

I’m a firm believer that if you work hard, you’ll become a great ER doctor no matter what residency program you go to.  Each one has its own unique features, including ours.  The most important part is finding a program where you think you’ll be happy.  Residency is tough, and surrounding yourself with supportive peers is paramount.  Everyone is always in a good mood here.  Come take charge of the chaos with us, and hopefully we can grab a beer afterwards.
