Medical School: Chicago Medical School

I was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM. I grew up in the mountains either camping, fishing, hiking, climbing, and snowboarding. I attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ for undergrad and then found myself in Chicago at Chicago Medical School. I enjoy moving around, experiencing different cultures, and meeting new friends. I plan to continue traveling during my EM career. Some of my favorite places  are Prague, Chamonix (in the French Alps), and the Tetons in Wyoming. There is no better feeling then being lost deep in a mountain range. One of my other passions is music. I have played the drums since I was ten and have recently picked up the harmonica, guitar, and fiddle.

Many of my friends would argue that I was meant to live in Texas. I have been a huge fan of Texas Country for some time; my favorite artists being Randy Rogers, Pat Green, and Josh Abbott. My idea of a fun night is going out to a country bar and two stepping all night. Corpus Christi obviously is a good fit for me. I live out on the island along with a handful of other residents and attending physicians. It's great living by the beach. Fishing, kite boarding, kayaking, going out on your friend's boat, running on the beach or enjoying a beverage while the sun goes down are all great ways to unwind after work when the beach is right in your backyard.

I could not have joined a better residency program. First of all, I have made some incredible friends. The residency is more of a big family. It is humbling watching the third years in action and hoping that I will be that smart when I get to be a senior. All of the attendings have different teaching and practice styles that help you develop your own medical decision making approach. I am very happy that my life lead me here to train and be influenced by those around me.

Upon graduating, I will begin flight surgeon training as a reservist in the Air Force and then continue on with a fellowship in wilderness medicine. After that I hope to live somewhere in the beautiful Rocky Mountains!
