San Diego, California is where I call home and where I was born and raised. Growing up in such a beautiful city, it is no wonder that I love being outdoors and playing sports. I grew up playing baseball with my brother, but I love any activity or sport that I can enjoy at a park or beach. I am a die-hard San Diego Chargers fan. Go Bolts! Corpus Christi definitely gives me, my wife, and daughter, the opportunity to continue the same activities we love back home in San Diego.

I had various  jobs before going into the medical field. I installed car alarms for a short time and was even a blackjack dealer at one point. Jobs that were definitely worlds away from medicine. It wasn't until I joined the Army that I started to find my direction. It was the military that gave me the discipline and persistence needed to be successful in anything I pursued, including becoming a physician. In the Army I was a Dialysis Nurse while stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. After leaving the Army, I continued on to achieve my RN and BSN. Prior to starting medical school at Touro University in Las Vegas, I was an Emergency Room Registered Nurse in San Diego.

What drew me to the Emergency Medicine Residency, here at CHRISTUS Spohn, was the opportunity for maximum learning. Being one of only two residency programs here opens the door to experience many procedures. The pathology of the patient population also allows for a variety of learning opportunities. This, coupled with the fellow residents and staff's openness to teaching, creates a notable residency program.
