Medical School: Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine

I was born and raised in SoCal but left with family when I was 10 to live in Saudi Arabia, Syria and Libya before returning to the US to attend college in Oklahoma at age 16. I’ve known I wanted to be a physician since I was a kid. After graduating college, I felt like I needed to reevaluate that decision, since med school/residency is a huge commitment and lasts longer than some marriages in Hollywood. I decided to work as an ED medical scribe at St. John in Tulsa, where I fell in love with emergency medicine over the next 2 years. I attended medical school at OSU-COM, knowing EM was my desired specialty.

When I’m not working, I enjoy playing with my potty-trained parrots, weightlifting, road biking, shooting guns at the range, and taking naps. What’s neat about Corpus is the endless opportunities to explore new hobbies. I went fishing for the first time here in Corpus and loved it!

This program was my #1 choice. I was ecstatic on Match Day when I found out I was moving to Corpus! It’s unopposed, meaning there aren’t other residency programs at the hospital that we’d be competing for procedures with (and there’s a TON). We also have a high patient volume with high acuity presentations, including a decent amount of blunt/penetrating trauma. The residents are all very competent and confident. Although I never rotated here, I was very impressed with my interview experience. Everyone was kind, welcoming, and meticulous. One of the trauma surgeons came by to speak to the students, which showed how invested attendings on other services were in our education. Come check us out to see for yourself!
