Thank you for your interest in our residency program!

I am originally from the Twin Cities area of Minnesota where my parents and three younger siblings still reside.  I am happily married to my high school sweetheart and we have four young children.   I studied finance and Spanish before deciding to pursue medicine.  My wife really didn’t know what she was getting into when she married me; we have moved 10 times since we have been married!  I did my undergraduate studies in Minnesota, medical prerequisites in Wisconsin, and medical school in Illinois.  I have already been blessed in my life in so many ways.  I have competed in high school and collegiate athletics, run my own business, lived in a foreign country, gone on many adventures, married the love of my life, and have been raising great children.

Unfortunately when I came down to Corpus Christi to interview, my family couldn’t join me.  I just remember telling my wife that this program felt like “my type of program.”  There was a family environment among the residents and faculty, everyone was happy, and there was a ton of hands-on experience available.   While it was hard to move far from family, we were excited to embark on a new adventure and experience “warm” winters and living near the beach.

I think it is really difficult to decide where you would like to train for residency.  Everyone has different things that are important to them but no one knows exactly what they are getting into when they match.  All I can say is that this program had everything I wanted from major things like faculty who care about me, happy residents, and great procedural experience to minor things like free parking and food.  Now that I have been here for several months I can say that I am truly proud to be a resident in our program.
